Keep the Home Fire Burning

At the time that the Bible characters lived there was no electricity. They did not have electric heat or electric lights. The only way to get warm was to have a fire burning. The only way to read was to have a lamp burning. Without the light from the fire or the lamp, it was dark inside the homes, especially at night.

We must make sure that our spiritual light never goes out. We must make sure that we never let our life become dark with sin. In Proverbs 13:9 we read, "The light of the righteous rejoiceth; but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out". In Job 18:5,6 we read, "Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him".

I don't want God to find my light not burning. How about you? The only way to make sure that your light is burning is to study the Bible and obey it. God has given us what we need to know to keep our light burning. That information is in His word, the Bible.

Until next time, keep studying your Bible. And if any of this is hard to understand, ask an adult to help you. Get the wisdom of God.
