It Tastes Good

When I was a little boy, my parents would want me to try a new food. Sometimes I would try it right away. Sometimes I would sit and look at it for a long time before finally trying it. I might stir it around for awhile. Or I might move it from one place to another on my plate. But it was for sure that I would not know if I liked it until I took a taste of it.

I have traveled to other countries. When I was in Ukraine, the people there would fix food that they normally ate. But I had never seen some of it before. I had no idea what it would taste like. The Ukrainian women were very excited about getting me to try their food. They were sure I would like it. And many times they were right.

In Psalm 34:8 we read, "O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth him." And in 1 Peter 2:3 we read, "If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious." We cannot really taste God with our physical tongues. But we do taste him with our spiritual tongues. Our mind is represented as our spiritual tongue in these verses. When we read God's word, the Bible, we are tasting him spiritually. And God tastes very good.

If we follow what God wants us to do, we will have peace in our lives. If we follow what God wants us to do, we will be happy. If we follow what God wants us to do, we will one day live with him in heaven. God definitely tastes good.

Until next time, keep reading your Bible. And if any of this is hard to understand, ask an adult to help you.
