Cut Down Like the Grass

Many people in the United States who own homes have a yard around their home. The yard is usually nice green grass. Some people work very hard to make their yards look very pretty. They will do all kinds of things to make the grass look healthy and green.

But sometimes the owner will get busy and not be able to take care of the grass. It will grow tall and begin to look bad. Sometimes a home will be vacant without anyone living in it for a long time. The yard will go unattended. The grass will grow very tall and look very bad.

When this happens, eventually the grass will get cut. It may be that the owner finally can cut it. Or he may pay someone to cut it. When a home has been vacant and the grass grows up, others who live around the vacant yard may complain to the authorities. Then the authorities will come and cut the grass down.

God says that those who are evil are like that grass. He will cut them down. In Psalm 37:1-2, we read, "Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb."

We may wonder why evil doers sometimes seem to prosper. Sometimes we may wonder why they treat us so bad. But we are not to worry about such. They will be cut down by God just like the grass gets cut down. They will get their reward at the Judgment.

Read your Bible. Learn how to obey God. And then obey God. Do not be an evil doer. Do not get cut down as grass. Until next time, keep getting the wisdom of God. And if any of this is hard to understand, ask an adult to help you.
