Stone to Bread

After Jesus was baptized by John the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness. Jesus did not eat anything for forty days. In Luke 2:2 it says that Jesus was very, very hungry.

Satan then comes to Jesus and tempts him to turn a stone into bread. Jesus says man can not live on just bread but on God's word as well. He refuses to turn the stone into bread.

Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He came to give us an example of serving others. His miraculous abilities were not to be used for his personal use and comfort. They were used to demonstrate that what he was teaching was from God (Hebrews 2:4).

Satan was trying to get Jesus to put himself first. But Jesus refused to put himself first even though he was very, very hungry. If Jesus had done what Satan wanted, he would have shown himself to be less than the all serving Messiah.

I am glad that Jesus resisted Satan. I am glad that he fulfilled his mission on earth by living the perfect life. I am glad that he showed us that we can resist Satan.

Until next time, keep reading your Bible. Get the wisdom of God. And if any of this is hard to understand, ask an adult to help you.
